A woman who lost her 18-year-old sister in the the Birmingham pub bombings has recalled the moment her life "fell apart".

Julie Hambleton was 11-years-old when she lost her sister Maxine more than 40 years ago.

Speaking to 5 live's Sam Walker, she said she'll never forget when her step-father "closed the curtains" before telling her the news.

It's nearly a quarter of a century since the six men convicted had their sentences quashed, but the inquest into the deaths of the 21 victims - which was halted when the so-called Birmingham six were originally convicted - has never been resumed.

This week, Julie will attend a public hearing which will consider the arguments of those who believe the inquest should be re-opened and completed.

"All these families deserve what should be afforded them, which is the natural conclusion of an inquest, and we really hope and pray that the coroner will see fit to give us what we desire most".
