Does cricket need red cards?
The head of laws at the MCC, guardians of the laws of cricket, says a new disciplinary system will be trialled in some recreational games this summer.
Speaking to Afternoon Edition, Fraser Stewart said the MCC had decided to take action after five matches were abandoned last year due to bad behaviour.
He said: "Thankfully most games of cricket do pass very happily with all 22 players and the umpire getting on very well but sadly there has been a rise in the number of games that have had to be abandoned due to violence."
Offences which could result in a player being asked to leave the field include "threatening an umpire, physical assault or any act of violence," he added.
