This virgin shark is pregnant
The female bamboo shark has had no contact with males of her species for at least 2 years and is due to give birth to 2 babies. Experts at the Great Yarmouth Sea Life Centre where she lives say that she has produced two fertile eggs. If the births are successful, the babies would be examples of an amazing conception process without a male called parthenogenesis. Darren Gook is a marine biologist at the aquarium.
