Taylor Lautner: Why I nearly chose the Rock over Twilight
The Hollywood star explains why he almost chose to appear in 'Race to Witch Mountain' instead of taking the role of Jacob in the smash hit franchise.
Taylor Lautner has been telling 5 live how he almost chose a role in "Race to Witch Mountain" over the chance to star as Jacob in the "Twilight" saga.
Speaking to Dan Walker and Sarah Brett, he revealed that he auditioned for both films on the same day and, being unfamiliar with the Twilight books, was far more interested in the chance to work with the Rock. He said he remembered thinking that 'Race to Witch Mountain' would be "awesome" and "so cool" and that his thoughts on 'Twilight' at the time amounted to; "vampires, werewolves... that sounds weird."
He went on to say that he and everyone else involved in Twilight were "hit over the head" by the series' success. But he added that he nearly didn't appear in the second film after the producers indicated that they were thinking of bringing in a new actor. He revealed that he had to bulk up dramatically for the role, gaining thirty pounds of muscle, a process that he described as "not fun".
