'Average Mohamed' cartoon character aims to fight extremism
'Average Mohamed' is a cartoon character depicting an average Muslim man to fight extremism among 8 to 16 year-olds by highlighting its dangers and spreading peaceful messages. He is the brainchild of Somali-American Mohamed Ahmed from Minneapolis, home to the largest Somali community in the US. In recent years more than 20 Somali-Americans have left for East Africa to join Al Shabaab. The videos are published in English, Somali and Swahili.
