Heathrow's surprising imports and exports
Heathrow's head of cargo, Nick Platts, has told 5 live the airport is "the most valuable port in the UK", with 1.5 million tonnes of cargo passing through each year.
According to Platts, the airport is "more valuable than Felixstowe and Southampton", and takes goods from across the UK.
Its biggest export is fresh salmon, while the biggest import is asparagus. More surprising cargo to come in and out of Heathrow includes "live sharks, pandas, tigers", and racehorses going to the Middle East.
"Everything you can think of comes through Heathrow," says Nick.
5 live also gained access to the vast network of conveyor belts, robots and people at Heathrow's new, state-of-the-art baggage handling system.
