Prokofiev's Grandson Puts New Spin on Classical Music
The Russian composer and pianist Sergei Prokofiev is one of the acknowledged masters of twentieth century classical music. But for the past decade or so, another Prokofiev, the composer's London-based grandson, Gabriel, has been pioneering the search for classical music's place in the twenty-first century, bringing it to a wider audience through concerts in pubs and clubs and with genre-defying compositions. His latest work, which premieres in London in April, is a concerto for "trumpet, percussion, turntables and orchestra".
