Can so-called Islamic State be defeated?
What will be left in its place? Those are just a couple of the questions facing the US-led coalition, which has been accused of providing weapons to groups on-the-ground that have ended up fighting each other. Also of concern to the Pentagon - is the large-scale Russian military activity in Syria. Moscow says it's targeting Islamist extremist groups, including IS. But the United States and its allies insists that's not true , saying other rebel groups opposed to the government of Bashar al Assad are the real targets. So with all this chaos on the ground, and a ceasefire that has still failed to materialise --- what next for the US-led coalition? Colonel Steve Warren from the US-led military campaign against the Islamic State group discusses options.
