Gridlock in the UK: Three drivers, three cities
New figures released to ѿý Radio 5 live suggest that delays because of congestion have gone up 16% in the UK's largest cities in the last 8 years.
The experts who produce the annual TomTom Traffic Index found the average amount of extra travel time drivers experience across the day due to congestion in 25 UK cities has risen from 25% in 2008 to 29% in 2015. So what does this mean for drivers?
London courier Ray Smith says he goes through 100 lots of roadworks a day in London, taxi firm manager Steve Tilstone says he is losing business because drivers are stuck in traffic, whilst Belfast commuter Andrea Johnston says she often finds herself “stuck”, with no way out.
