Eddie Izzard like 'sack of potatoes' after marathon
Eddie Izzard says he feels like he’s had a “fight with a train” after completing the first of 27 marathons.
He's running across South Africa in temperatures that could hit a blistering 40 degrees, and has told 5 live “at the moment I’m a sack of potatoes with a mission. Later I’ll look like an athlete on a mission”.
The comedian is running the marathons in 27 days in aid of Sport Relief, one for each year Nelson Mandela spent in prison.
It’s not the first time Eddie has tackled an ultra-marathon. In 2009 he completed 43 marathons in 51 days.
