Manchester City fan John has slated Manuel Pellegrini for a lack of faith in the club's academy players.

"Pellegrini only played the kids out of desperation," John lamented.

Manuel Pellegrini had warned that he planned to field an under-strength team against Chelsea in the FA Cup at the weekend, and the Manchester City manager was true to his word - handing full debuts to five players, in a team that contained six teenagers.

There were 10 changes to the City side for their Champions League game against Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday night.
