Speeding driver: I was caught doing 103 miles per hour
More than two thousand drivers were caught doing over a hundred miles an hour on the UK’s roads last year. The figures come from a Freedom of Information request to all 45 police forces in the UK by 5 live. 42 of them responded.
Richard from southwest England was caught doing 103 miles per hour.
He admitted he had self-inflicted pressure on him to get “someone to the airport on time”.
He said although road conditions were “pretty much perfect” at the time, he does use cruise control to “monitor his speed” now.
The National Police Chief Council Lead for Roads Policing, Chief Constable, Suzette Davenport said:
“Speed is a significant factor in fatal road accidents and extreme speed causes an even greater risk to road users.”
