Bingo friends discover they're long-lost sisters
A woman from Cleveland spent decades trying to track down her sister before finding out she had been talking to her every day for eight years in an online chat room.
A woman from Cleveland has discovered that best friend of eight years from an online bingo site is actually the sister she's been searching for for 35 years.
Elaine Walker was adopted at eight weeks old, and only learnt aged 25 that she had a sister, who she'd never met.
Elaine spent 35 years searching for her sister, checking parish records, going to Somerset House and even writing to Cilla Black's Surprise Surprise.
The crucial moment came after her brother died, and an heir-hunting TV programme gave Elaine more details of her family, including her sister's name, Jackie Green.
Elaine used those details to search online, and found one woman who not only fitted the bill, but looked like her. As Elaine told Sam Walker on 5 live Daily, she sent her an online message, and - after a delay - got back a message saying "Hello sis".
What makes this all the more amazing is that two had been best friends on an online bingo site for eight years, so much so that they'd even been dubbed the "terrible twins" by the chat room manager.
