For those of you who watch the US presidential debates, you may remember this exchange a few months back between Democrats Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton; Sanders, who calls himself a democratic socialist, said, 鈥淚 think we should look to countries like Denmark, like Sweden, and Norway and learn from what they have accomplished for their working people鈥�. Clinton responded, 鈥淚 love Denmark鈥�, but also largely dismissed the idea of being like Scandinavia. She said we shouldn鈥檛 turn our backs on American-style capitalism. But could a Scandinavian-style welfare state actually work in the US?
