Unique Beatles record goes up for auction
An original piece of Beatles history that has spent 50 years hidden in a loft has been put up for auction.
The record, which has been described as the ‘holy grail’ of Beatles memorabilia, was owned by Gerry and the Pacemakers keyboardist, Les Maguire.
Karen Fairweather, who is from Omega Auctioneers where the record is being auctioned, told 5 live that she “had Goosebumps listening to it for the first time” as it was the pressing that got the Beatles their first record deal.
The 1962 10-inch vinyl copy of ‘Hello Little Girl’ and 'Till There Was You' has only ever been heard by the Beatles themselves, their manager Brian Epstein, producer George Martin and fellow Liverpudlians, Gerry and the Pacemakers.
When asked how much the record is expected to sell for, Karen said there was a “starting price of £10,000” but “the sky’s the limit” as to how much the winning bid could be.
