Former NBA star John Amaechi launched a blistering attack on British basketball, describing it as "the worst in Europe."

Amaechi, who is the first and only Briton to have his jersey hung at the U.S. Basketball Hall of Fame, believes talented young players are being held back by poor coaching and over-priced training facilities.

He said: "being well-meaning is not enough, coaches need to be skilled too."
