Women: forgotten from history?
Would you recognise a picture of the 19th century computer pioneer Ada Lovelace? What about Elizabeth I? Well, if not, you're not alone. A survey carried out by the English Heritage charity has found that Britons struggle to name famous women from history. The charity says something has "gone wrong" with Britain's reading of history, and is campaigning for more iconic blue plaques to mark the homes and workplaces of key women from history. So, what exactly has gone wrong? The historian, author and broadcaster, Bettany Hughes explains.
