Refugee goes from sinking boat to Olympic dream

Hear the story of 17-year-old refugee Ishra Madina, the Syrian swimmer who's chasing an Olympic dream thanks to the IOC creating a team specifically for refugees to compete in Rio de Janeiro.

Michael Schirp from the German Olympic Confederation tells us the tale of how Madina went from Syria to potential Olympic swimmer. It's a story that includes a harrowing three-hour swim to European shores after leaving her parents behind in Damascus before being spotted at a Berlin swimming club.

"A volunteer listed the refugees' hobbies adn took them swimming [...] they sent an email to the IOC, they contacted us, and now Ishra is one of the athletes being supported by the IOC to train for her Olympic dream."

The rest is history.
