How do you pull off a convincing Geordie accent?
How easy is it to pull off a convincing Geordie accent? One dialect coach took up the challenge of teaching 5 live Drive's Tony Livesey how to speak like a Newcastle native.
Daniele Lydon, who is the resident dialect coach for the West End production of Billy Elliot, told 5 live it's "easier" for people to mimic a dialect they are already "familiar with".
If you want to give the Newcastle accent a go, Daniele said the best way to start practicing is to "put your fingers on the apples of your cheeks and think about the muscles lifting you fingers up and outwards" while trying to say the letter i.
She made her comments after US crime drama Castle featured a character that was widely criticised on social media as having 'the worst Geordie accent ever'.
