MH370 Search Chief: Can't guarantee we will find plane

Martin Dolan, the Australian Transport Safety Bureau's Chief Commissioner who has been leading the search for the missing plane MH370 has told 5 Live that if it cannot be found in the remaining area then the search will stop

"We've still got 30,000 square kilometres to go which is a huge area and is a high probabilty for the location of the aircraft"

Dolan told 5 live's Dotun Adebayo that his team were facing a range of challenges in their hunt for the plane:

"The weather conditions are extremely variable, up to 15 metre waves, cyclones, and the undersea terrain itself in that remote area is very compex and difficult to search".

Dolan did say that he is "confident [the plane] will be found" before they have completed the search but they can't "guarentee" it will be found.

"We still have a large area to search and that's still a high probablility that's the location of the aircraft" he said.
