To celebrate Outlook鈥檚 50th birthday, here are 50 stories of people that have shown real courage and inspiration. The three people chosen as 鈥極utlook Inspirations鈥� were revealed by our judges at a special event on 4 July 2016 and are Natalia Ponce de Leon, Dorris Francis and Kees Veldboer..

I was sent to war aged six

Deng Adut grew up as a child soldier in war torn Sudan
I took more than 100 street children into my home

Khanyisile Motsa runs a Johannesburg shelter for vulnerable orphaned girls
I stood up for the disabled in my village

Eko is helping people in his community in Indonesia with mental and physical disabilities
I survived an acid attack and had a law named after me

Natalia Ponce de Leon was scarred by a stalker. Now she campaigns for other survivors.
I grant the wishes of the terminally ill

Dutch ambulance driver Kees Veldboer set up an organisation to grant people鈥檚 last wishes
I now direct the traffic at the spot where my daughter was killed
