Middlesbrough's Karanka: 'The word "revolt" has been used'
A Middlesbrough club statement confirmed head coach Aitor Karanka did not take training on Saturday and assistant Steve Agnew will take charge at Charlton on Sunday.
5 live Sport's Mark Clemmit understands "there was a heated meeting yesterday and the word 'revolt' has been used. He wanted a show of support; He was underwhelmed with the players that backed him, and told the players that he didn't want to manage them anymore."
The 42-year-old Spaniard took charge at the Riverside in November 2013, but had been critical of recent displays from his players.
