In the northern Nigerian state of Kano, Muslim women have developed a booming cottage industry in romance literature. In doing so, they face censorship and the threat of retaliation from Boko Haram. The writers say they want to prove their literary merit and spread not only the word of love but also that of courage, to be able to discuss issues like child marriage or women's education. The photojournalist Glenna Gordon spent three years travelling through this part of Nigeria collecting the writers' stories which are now published in the new book "Diagram of the Heart".
