Ivory Coast attacks: 'people thought it was fireworks'
Souleymane Kamagate was staying as a guest in the Wharf Hotel in Grand Bassam when he heard shooting from the direction of the beach.
Looking out of his room window, he saw people running from the beach and fleeing in all directions.
Mr Kamagate was asked to stay in his room but was later able to leave after police had secured the area.
Souleymane has been talking to 5 live: "At the beginning a loud noise was heard, people thought it was fireworks, so they continued with what they were doing. It was only when people started running that everyone thought it was something more serious. People were running in various directions because of the gunshots that were heard. That's when I made the video of what was happening. And I was told to stay in my hotel room and not go out."
