'Manchester United don't have an identity'

Former England winger Chris Waddle says the current Manchester United side "don't have an identity".

Referring to previous United sides, the former Newcastle and Spurs man said: "you always thought they'll buy him, they'll be interested in him, he's a Manchester United type player. But Juan Mata came here as a number ten and never really plays there. Depay probably thought 'I'll come as a winger or a centre forward'....can't get a game".

"Manchester United have always had a system; your centre forward scores his goals and holds the ball up well, two wingers where you thought pace and two lads in midfield who were solid but who could play. Now, they sign players and think 'where will we play him?'"
