Should laser pens be banned?
A mum from Hertfordshire is calling for a ban on laser pens being sold as toys after her 8-year-old son damaged his retina. Jonny damaged his eye with a laser that he bought at a Christmas fair.
Jonny said "I like experimenting and I thought it would be harmless, I was shining it everywhere seeing how the light came out".
His mother Angela Marshall is now campaigning for the sale of the pens to be stopped, and she and Jonny have been raising awareness of the dangers involved.
"I feel happy and lucky that we are raising awareness for all the children around the world that may have gone blind from these laser pens."
