Pregnancy discrimination in the workplace has risen from 45% to 75%
New research by the Equality and Human Rights Commission has found that over the last ten years, the percentage of woman who report discrimination related to pregnancy or motherhood has risen from 45% to 75%. Furthermore, 70% of bosses think that they should be allowed to ask women if they are pregnant when they apply for a job and 25% think that they should ask if she has plans to do so. Jenni Murray is joined by Jo Swinson, who commissioned the research, and Joeli Brearley who set up the website Pregnant Then Screwed.
