Blossoms singer: Viola Beach deaths left us 'devastated’

Singer Tom Ogden says his band Blossoms were left “devastated” after the members of Viola Beach, who were supporting them on tour, died in a car accident in Sweden.
Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe, Jack Dakin and manager Craig Tarry, who were aged between 20 and 33, were killed when their car plunged more than 25m (82ft) from a bridge into a canal.
Instead of replacing the band with another support, Blossoms played out a 25 minute audio recording of Viola Beach's set. Tom Ogden told Colin Paterson it felt “eerie” but was a fitting tribute:
“[It’s] probably quite upsetting for a lot of people, in the same stretch it's celebrating their lives and as sad as it is there is an uplifting element with the music because they were such a good band,” he said.
Blossoms, The Coral, The Kooks and Liam Fray will appear at the Parr Hall in Warrington at a special concert to pay tribute to the band on Saturday 2 April.
