Farmer: Dogs shot for being 'natural born killers'
More than 300 dogs have been shot by landowners in England and Wales in the last five years, according to figures from a Freedom of Information request by the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½.
The law allows for the shooting of dogs if they pose a threat to animals but police must be informed within 48 hours.
Gareth Wyn Jones is a farmer in North Wales and told 5 live's Nicky Campbell it's only ever the "final straw" but some dogs are "natural born killers" and owners need to take control of their pet.
The distress caused to sheep by dogs is akin to running after "a heavily pregnant woman with a motor car", he said.
