Can singing in a choir help people with cancer?
A new study suggests joining a choir and blasting out those high notes could help cancer sufferers fight the disease.
The study of nearly 200 singers found that performing in choir rehearsals for an hour resulted in stress hormones like cortisol dropping, while proteins which boosted the immune system, rose.
Diane Raybould from Porthcawl, Wales, who survived breast cancer and now attends a choir dedicated to helping people with cancer said that singing is "inspirational".
She said having cancer can be "really isolating" so to be able to go somewhere and speak to people who have had similar experiences is "really good".
