Danny Willett’s dad: He was outdriving me at 12 years old

England's Danny Willett has won the Masters in Augusta. His three shot victory came after a total meltdown by the defending champion Jordan Spieth who had a quadruple bogey seven at the par three 12th hole, including two shots in the water.

Reverend Steve Willett, Danny’s dad, said “he was outdriving all of us at twelve-years-old”.

His mum Elizabeth said “people kept telling us this kid is good, so you do what you can as far as you can”.

She said “At one stage we didn’t have a great deal of money, and it was his oldest brother in a really good job that bought him his first set of proper clubs”.
