Was 70s décor really that bad?
A survey has found the decade of woodchip and avocado bathroom suites is Britain's least favourite of the last sixty years.
According to survey for Nationwide Credit Cards, 43% of people said the era of lava lamps and shag-pile rugs was Britain's worst in terms of décor.
Designer Wayne Hemingway defended 70s decor and said "every decade has its high points and its low points. Interior design was pretty strong in many parts of the 70s".
Hemingway said 70s decor inspires today's interior design. He said "coloured bathrooms are coming back" and in any major high street retailers "you'll see a shag-pile rug".
