Green Cross Road man: We 'halved accident figures'
Actor Dave Prowse, who played the Green Cross Code man, says the campaign, which launched in 1976, "halved the road accident figures in Great Britain."
It comes as the British Film Institute makes more than a hundred of its public information films free to view online. As well as the Green Cross Code, the films also include 'Charlie Says' and 'Coughs and Sneezes Spread Diseases.'
It wasn't the only role Dave was famous for either. After a telephone call from "somebody called George Lucas" he found himself being the face behind the Darth Vader mask in Star Wars.
