Clive James: 'And soon all that I love will leave me'
The broadcaster and critic says he writes every day to celebrate that he is still alive.
The critic and broadcaster, who has terminal cancer, tells James Naughtie that he celebrates that he is still alive by writing every day.
Clive James thought he would be dead by now, but this month he is publishing two books: his Collected Poems and Gate of Lilacs, which is a verse commentary on Marcel Proust’s Remembrance of Things Past.
Speaking at his home in Cambridge for Meet The Author, the writer says that he knows when a poem is really arriving beacuse it gets him up in the night and he must work on it.
