Campaign to stop rude walkers in the countryside

South Downs National Park has launched a campaign to encourage people to be friendly and courteous to those they pass on footpaths and bridleways.

The Share the Path initiative aims to reduce the risk of confrontations before they start happening.

Rupert Uloth who is the Deputy Editor of Country Life Magazine and also lives in the South Downs National park, told 5 live Daily's Adrian Chiles that it's "difficult" not to say hello to a passer-by.

He said: "Most people do say hello in my experience. Obviously it's not something that would happen in London, because your passing 47 people a second."
