The Queen opens the University Hospital of Wales: 1971
On 19 November 1971, Queen Elizabeth II opened the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, and met staff and patients. Situated in the district of Heath in the city, the 1,000 bed hospital is the third largest university hospital in the UK and the largest hospital in Wales.
