Midwife hitches ride on blow-up swan to attend birth
A devoted midwife in the US has gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure she made it to work despite severe flooding by getting to a birth with the help of an inflatable swan.
Cathy Allen Rude, owner of the Katy Birth Center in Houston, Texas, told 5 live the couple expecting felt the birth "was imminent" and were concerned that with "all the high water they would not be able to get to the birth centre".
Cathy hitched a ride with her supplies to the waiting couple on the swan float. The woman in labour eventually gave birth to a nine pound baby boy.
