Are there too many so-called “chuggers” in towns?
How many so-called “chuggers” is an acceptable number to have in a town or city at any one time? At the moment in Birmingham as many as 42 face-to-face charity workers can be operating on the streets at the same time, but that number is to be cut in a three month trial by 70%, to just 12. Peter Hills-Jones is chief executive of the Public Fundraising Association and Mike Leddy is a member of the council’s Licensing Committee.
