AC/DC auditions: The tribute band singer who lost out to Axl Rose

An unknown singer from North Carolina almost landed the job of replacing Brian Johnson, but was pipped to the post by rock legend Axl Rose.

Lee Robinson is the frontman of Thunderstruck, an AC/DC covers band from Raleigh.

Speaking to 5 live's Sam Walker, Lee described auditioning in front of his favourite band as "awesome".

He added that whilst Axl Rose clearly fits the brief as a "power vocalist," he "doesn't have what he had 20 years ago".
