Residents complain their city stinks of vinegar
People in Bristol have complained their city stinks of vinegar after the council used it as an alternative to chemical weed killers.
Harriet Williams of Pesticide Safe Bristol Alliance said “The spraying of toxic weed killers has got to stop, most people don’t even realise they are being sprayed in public places.”
“However, most cities that have achieved safer weed control don’t just rely on one thing, it seems perverse they have chosen vinegar instead of other proven technologies.”
Bristol Council said the weed treatments had been implemented “in response to widespread public concern about the use of Glyphosate as a weed killer”. They were “sorry to hear” residents were concerned about the use of vinegar and would “monitor feedback throughout the trial”.
