Papua New Guinea will close the Manus Island detention centre for refugees and asylum seekers following a Supreme Court decision, but Australia still believes this is the only solution to illegal immigration. Peter Reith, former Australian defence minister, says that offshore processing of migrants has been more successful than the European approach.
