Khan: I can beat Canelo and make boxing history

Amir Khan explains why he decided to move up in weight to fight Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.

The British boxer is moving up two weight divisions to challenge for the WBC world middleweight title on 7 May in Las Vegas.

Khan said: "People always talk about when Sugar Ray Leonard moved up and fought against Marvin Hagler, and how he made history by beating him. Very few people gave him a chance. Do I really need to take this fight? The only reason I am taking it is because I want to make history and I know I can beat him."

His trainer Virgil Hunter had doubts about the fight initially, but reveals how Khan persuaded him it was the right move. Hunter said: "His answer to me was in line with the vision that I would have in preparing for this fight."
