‘Man City did not play English way in Europe’
Former England winger Chris Waddle believes Manchester City should have played the 'English way' in their Champions League semi-final against Real Madrid.
City were eliminated from the competition as Gareth Bale's goal gave the Spanish side a 1-0 win on aggregate.
Waddle says too many British clubs change their style of play in Europe.
"The only club who play like they do in the Premier League is Liverpool,” he said. “City showed nothing. If you come to Spain and play an English-type game, they will not like it. The Premier League makes you play a certain style of football and you have to take that into games. If you try and play a different style completely, it never works."
