Vintage ale sells for £250 a bottle

We've heard about vintage wines and champagnes selling for hundreds, if not thousands of pounds, but what about beer? Fuller's brewery are selling their 1997 vintage ale for £250 a bottle, but just what makes this beer so special?

Annabel Smith is a Sommelier with The Beer Academy, an educational body dedicated to helping people understand, appreciate and enjoy beer sensibly. She said “This beer is really really special, if you compare it to the wine world it’s like a vintage port. It is brewed to be bought and kept over a number of years.â€

“All beers taste slightly different, there are lots of different styles. This is an ale and as it ages it becomes richer and richer and brings out new flavours.â€
