Mum attacked by daughter: I felt nobody listened
A mother who was abused by her daughter says she did not feel "anyone listened" to her when she asked for help.
Jackie's daughter was twelve when she became verbally abusive towards her mum, but it progressively turned in to physical violence.
"She would punch me, kick me, push me, spit on me.", Jackie told 5 live's Chris Warburton.
Jackie told social services that she had to "sit on her hands" to avoid retaliating and was told if she resorted to violence to protect herself she could risk losing her other two children.
A charity which supports parents abused by their children says many people may be suffering in silence.
More than 3,500 parents have got in touch with the charity Family Lives over the past 4 years for help to deal with abuse.
