Iskra Lawrence: Unedited images meant I finally felt good enough
In 2014 the US based fashion retailer, Aerie for American Eagle decided to feature only un-airbrushed models in its ads, a move intended to challenge "supermodel standards."
Now it appears that the company's decision to champion body-positivity with the social media hashtag "aeriereal" has paid off for the lingerie and swimwear brand.
In an otherwise disappointing start to 2016 for retailers Aerie's sales rose 32 percent in the first quarter.
The company has taken on Iskra Lawrence and has stopped retouching her images. She says:
"I was being called fat by stylists on jobs because I wasn't as tiny as the sample size."
"For Aerie to take me on and say 'we're not going to retouch you...' it was such a huge moment for me because I finally felt good enough."
