Schmeichel: Van Gaal sacking 'long overdue'
Manchester United great Peter Schmeichel says Louis Van Gaal's departure from Old Trafford was long overdue.
The Dane, a five-time Premier League winner with United, also says Jose Mourinho could "save" the club despite it not being an "easy choice" to hire him.
"The club has moved backwards in terms of its philosophy and traditions. I have to praise the owners and the leadership of the club to make this decision," added Schmeichel.
