Does fracking cause earthquakes?
A professor who researches the environmental impacts of fracking has said that the controversial energy technique "can cause earthquakes".
Professor Richard Davies told 5 live's Nicky Campbell that although earthquakes can occur, they are "generally very small".
He stated that in the UK man-made earthquakes have occurred from the mining industry "for a number of decades".
Andrew, a tour guide from new Mexico said that the earthquakes "might be small" but they have been coming "swarms" in areas of the USA.
Approval for fracking in North Yorkshire has raised the prospect of the technique being allowed at other sites and restarted an intense debate.
