Bruce Foxton: The Jam break up was depressing
Bruce Foxton - the bassist with The Jam - has said he's not surprised to hear of Sir Paul McCartney's depression when The Beatles split up, and said he also struggled after the break-up of The Jam.
Sir Paul has revealed that he was depressed when the Beatles split up, and considered giving up music altogether.
Bruce Foxton said of his split with Paul Weller and Rick Buckler in 1982: "It was very depressing to think that we'd had all those great years together...I never thought of giving up but I knew immediately it was going to be a hard struggle to get up, pick myself up off the floor."
The Jam star was talking to 5 live's Afternoon Edition about his new album 'Smash the Clock', which he co-wrote with his band From The Jam and features guest appearances from Paul Weller, Wilko Johnson and Paul Jones.
