Bus driver saves kids from bridge collapse
A bus driver whose quick thinking saved eleven children from a collapsing bridge has told 5 live he just took the incident “in his stride”.
Derek Trow was taking the children home from school in Tenbury Wells yesterday, when he noticed the 223 year old Eastham Bridge he was driving across collapsing in front of him. He said “the wall on one side had gone at the bottom”, which meant they had to get off of the bridge “straight away”.
Worcestershire County Council said the area around the bridge had been made safe and an investigation has been launched into what happened.
